The Hong Kong Story

The Hong Kong Story unfolds in the magnificent 'Dragon Range' - the ancient hills which lured early settlers to Hong Kong more than 800 years ago. As the Chinese say "if you catch the dragon, you catch the best fung shui". Our story is told by the people of Hong Kong, who have contributed to its rich culture and shared in its phenomenal success. A unique collection of archive film helps to tell the story through a kaleidoscope of images which entertain, amuse and enlighten. We meet early farmers and fishermen, merchant princes. Chinese entrepreneurs and Middle Eastern philanthropists. We witness the horrors of plague and war. We relive the delights of the Tea Dance, launch picnics and pajama parades. This documentary film gives a rare insight into the history of Hong Kong and allows you to share in the fortunes of those who have made this their home.
